At Lets-Talk, we are committed to promoting mental health and wellbeing for all through the power of language. Our mission is to establish a supportive community where individuals can openly express their feelings and experiences in a safe environment. The organisation was founded to address needs identified within multicultural communities, leveraging over 20 years of experience from our staff in supporting diverse populations, asylum seekers, and refugees in matters of mental health and wellbeing.
We are a small yet team with extensive and work experience, supported by an excellent network of from the communities we engage with. Through our previous roles in the healthcare sector and other employment positions, we have substantial expertise in working with asylum seekers, and newly settled individuals, addressing the issues they face.
Our team comprises three main staff members and twelve amazing volunteers, including a doctor who assists with health talks and health promotion, dementia champions, and English tutors who support ESOL initiatives.
Through partnerships with various services, we provide extensive support for optimal results. Our effective methods utilize a range of expertise for mutual benefit. Our experienced staff have built strong networks that we plan to use effectively.
Lets-Talk is committed to enhancing mental health through effective communication. Our goal is to break down barriers and make wellbeing accessible to all.
Recent projects include collaborating with the Diabetes team to create a multicultural cookbook and training diabetes and digital champions from the local communities.
In an English conversation group, we encouraged participants to take charge of their learning, enabling them to make choices and set their own goals. Real-world projects such as writing articles, producing newspapers, or cooking traditional recipes integrate theory and practice, thereby enhancing initiative and confidence in managing challenging tasks.
